📖 Introduction: Effortlessly Import Images into PostureRay®

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to easily import external images into PostureRay®, including JPEGs and bitmaps—though we strongly recommend using JPEG format for best results. This capability is especially useful for clinicians looking to include documentation such as Cervical Range of Motion studies, PostureScreen images, or other clinical visuals directly within the patient’s evaluation.

In our example, we’ll walk you step by step through importing Cervical Flexion and Extension range-of-motion images from PostureScreen into PostureRay®. Once imported, you’ll be able to view, rename, and even include these images in printed or digital reports—enhancing both your documentation and patient education efforts.

Whether you’re showcasing posture changes or functional movement over time, integrating these visuals with your radiographic records has never been simpler. Let’s get started!

🛠️ What You’ll Need:

  • Your PostureRay® software installed on a Windows PC.
  • Access to your image files (e.g., from Dropbox, Google Drive, or a folder on your PC).
  • The JPEG images you want to import (e.g., Flexion and Extension photos).

✅ Step 1: Prepare Your Files

  1. Download or move the JPEG files to a folder on your PC.
  2. If you’re using Dropbox or Google Drive, make sure the desktop sync app is installed:
  3. If you’re not familiar with using Dropbox or Google Drive, see this step-by-step guide:

✅ Step 2: Open the Patient Evaluation in PostureRay

  1. Open PostureRay®.
  2. Select an existing patient or create a new one.
  3. Choose an existing evaluation or start a new one.
  4. Inside the evaluation, go to the “Other Views” section.

✅ Step 3: Import the JPEG Images

  1. In the Other Views tab, click “Add Image” or double-click an empty slot like “Other”.
  2. Ensure the file type is set to JPEG.
  3. Click “Browse”, and navigate to your saved image folder (e.g., Dropbox > PostureScreen Files).
  4. Select multiple images (e.g., Flexion and Extension) by holding Shift while clicking them.
  5. Click “Open”.

✅ Step 4: Assign the Images to Available Slots

  1. PostureRay may ask you to assign these to specific “Other” image slots (e.g., “Other 4”, “Other 5”).
  2. Select the slots in the order you want them displayed.
  3. Click “Next” and then “OK”.

✅ Step 5: Finalize Image Import

  1. You’ll be prompted to crop the image. If cropping isn’t necessary, just click “OK”.
  2. You may get a warning saying the image doesn’t match x-ray formatting. Click OK—it’s normal for JPEGs.

✅ Step 6: Rename the Imported Images

  1. After the images appear in “Other Views,” click on each one individually.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and type in a custom name:
    • Example 1: Range of Motion - Cervical Flexion
    • Example 2: Range of Motion - Cervical Extension
  3. Click “Save” after renaming each image.

✅ Step 7: Review the Images

  1. Exit and re-enter the evaluation to see the updated image titles.
  2. When you open the online view box, you’ll also see these renamed images appear at the end of the X-ray series.
  3. Use the arrow keys or scroll bar to navigate through the images.

📌 Notes:

  • You can repeat this process for any number of JPEGs, such as shoulder ROM, thoracolumbar studies, or patient postural progress photos.
  • These imported images are saved and can be included in reports or shown to patients during review.
