In this tutorial we will walk you through how to use the Generic Video Capture tool.

Video Tutorial: https://youtu.be/vuaEdrpVRbE

Overview

The Generic Video Capture feature in PostureScreen allows clinicians to record short video clips, take snapshot frames, and annotate those frames with lines, angles, arrows, and more. These annotated snapshots can be used for educational purposes and added to posture or movement reports — they are not intended for full video production annotation.

✅ Common Use Cases

  • Highlighting knee valgus or varus angles during gait
  • Demonstrating incorrect lifting posture
  • Capturing squat form or athletic motion (e.g., a golf swing)
  • Annotating key positions in a movement screen or PostureScreen exam

⚠️ What This Feature Is Not Meant For

  • Creating animated or moving videos with annotations
  • Full coaching replays with motion-tracked visuals
  • Exporting annotated videos (only screenshots are supported)

🧰 Step-by-Step Instructions

🔹 Part 1: Capturing and Annotating a Generic Video

  1. Create a New Screening
    • Tap the New Screening button
    • On the Create New Assessment popup scroll down and tap Generic Video
    • This creates a standalone exam entry
  2. Record a Video
    • Tap Record and film your subject (or an object if demonstrating)
    • Tap Stop when done
  3. Open the Video for Annotation
    • Tap on the recorded video
    • Use the scrubber to scroll to the desired frame
  4. Use Annotation Tools
    • At the top of the screen, choose your tool:
      • Angle Tool: Tap 3 points to measure an angle
      • Arrow: Point out direction or key areas
      • Circle: Emphasize a specific region
      • Line / Locked Line: Draw straight lines (locked at angles if needed)
      • Freeform: Draw freehand with finger/stylus
      • Grid ON/Off: Toggles the grid on and off
  5. Customize the Annotation Color and Line Size
    • Tap the color box to change color
    • Use the “Brush Size” slider to adjust thickness
  6. Take a Screenshot
    • Tap the Capture icon to save a snapshot with your annotations
    • You can take multiple snapshots if needed
  7. Include in Report
    • Each snapshot will show a checkbox labeled Include in Report
    • Toggle the checkbox ON to include that image in the exported PDF

🔹 Part 2: Adding to a PostureScreen Exam

  1. Open an Existing Posture Exam
  2. Add a Generic Video
    • Tap the + icon next to the exam to open the Create New Assessment popup → tap Generic Video
  3. Repeat Steps 2–7 from Part 1
  4. Generate the Report
    • All selected snapshots will appear in the report under Generic Video Analysis

🔹 Optional: Annotate Movement Screen Videos

You can also:

  • Capture video from a Movement Screen (e.g., squats, lunges)
  • Annotate specific frames
  • Save and include these stills in the Movement Screen section of the report
  • Capture a Generic Video and later change the Type to one of the Movement Screen types like a Lateral or an AP Squat by tapping the Change Type button
